Life on the Roc

For those of us reality fans out there, you will all be pleased to hear that DJ Pauly D, from the Jersey Shore (you know the guy with the orange bronzer and perfectly gelled blowout), will be in Rochester this Monday night June 28th. Pauly will be performing at the East End on Lawrence Street and afterwards will be making his way to the new Heat Night Club on the corner of Alexander and East Avenues.

Hopefully many of you are as excited as I am for the Jersey Shore Season 2 premiere this Tuesday night along with the new season of Real World New Orleans on Wednesday. My friends and I are big fans of the Real World and are planning to have a viewing party this Wednesday in order to celebrate the kick off of what looks to be another drama filled season of my our favorite reality show.

The Fisher community is no stranger to playing host to many reality TV stars who often visit the campus each semester for different events. This past year, Joey Kavar, from Real World Hollywood did a seminar about the effects of alcoholism. My freshman year Dunbar (Real World Sydney) and Wes (Real World Austin) visited campus under a political theme as they advertised the Rock the Vote campaign and discussed the upcoming Obama vs. McCain election. Cast members such as Brooke and Davis from Real World Denver and Katie and Shane from Road Rules Campus Crawl have also been visitors to the Fisher campus.

Fisher’s Student Activities Board (also known as SAB) is known for bringing many of Fisher’s guests to campus. Reality stars are not the only visitors we have to campus, everything from comedians to Dove models have made appearances here at Fisher. This past semester, a Dove model came to campus and discussed the effects of media on body image. Comedians, magicians, and hypnotists are also a big crowd favorite as students flock to Cleary Family Auditorium to view the unexplained craziness of their acts. Let’s hope this fall semester will be just as great as far as visitors go!

Until Later,

Jeff
